Kikimora Records are an independent label, promoter and ecosystem of imaginative and amorphous music from Birmingham and beyond. Founded by avant-pop musician Rosie Tee and multidisciplinary artist Emily Doyle, Kikimora cultivate a petri-dish of sounds from the roots of folk to the outer reaches of electronica, and all the weirdness in-between.
With a key focus of championing female, non-binary, and trans artists in adventurous music-making, we're continually creating opportunities for performance and collaboration within the Midland's thriving, yet overlooked, DIY scene. Drawing inspiration from the folk cultures of our respective Polish and Irish heritage, we love unearthing synergies of folklore, synth-driven soundscapes, sampling, and visual design, with its influence permeating through our work.
Kikimora releases have been praised by The Quietus, Electronic Sound Mag, and BBC Radio 6 Music with Counteract Magazine predicting our label "will be home to some of Birmingham’s best releases".
Our live events celebrate the interplay of performer, audience, and space. Our curation includes Nightgarden Festival in Manchester’s hinterlands, Derby’s Psychic Dancehall Festival, alongside showcases in unconventional venues. We've hosted events in Lichfield’s Victorian Waterworks and our local garden-centre, offering playful, magical moments for our audiences.
Community-driven at our core, we are growing our ecosystem of musicians, videographers, sound engineers, DJs, photographers, visual artists and more. Our mission is to support a scene locally, that’s recognised nationally, by promoting the Midlands' fruitful ground for irregular music!
“Friendly, fun, and fantastically creative”
