Kikimora x Pan-Pan PFI present...

Stevie Toddler + Her Revelation + Die Nibelungen (1924 film)

Thursday 17 October 2024, doors 19:00

Pan-Pan, Digbeth

Kikimora Records & Pan-Pan are teaming up to host an evening of film & live music, within the space of jazz and electronic.

As a special edition of Pan-Pan's well-loved weekly film night 'PFI' we're bringing the bold, effervescent sounds of Bristol bassist/songwriter Stevie Toddler to Birmingham for the first time. Visually accompanied by Die Nibelungen (1924) a silent film by Fritz Lang, Stevie's alt-pop sensibilities collide with jazz and classical orchestrations to make something truly magic.

Support comes from local trio, Her Revelation, who craft mesmerising, emotional music from synths. Between Kinna Whitehead, Peter Bell and Vato Klemera, expect delicate vocal and electronic improvisations.

WHATS ON

STEVIE TODDLER | listen here |

Stevie Toddler is a Bristol based bassist, singer and songwriter. Her music has received widespread attention, including from Guy Garvey (BBC Radio 6) and Jamie Cullum (BBC Radio 2).

Maintaining an alt-pop sensibility, Stevie's material blends influences from various musical worlds. Having learnt classical double bass from age seven, and playing in orchestras as a child, it was in her teens that Stevie seriously felt music as a calling – when she picked up a bass guitar and got into Radiohead and Pixies. It was also around this time that she began studying jazz and attended the Royal Academy of Music's junior jazz programme. Other influences include Dirty Projectors, St Vincent and Feist.

Team Kikimora highly reccommend a listen to Stevie's new album "Last Time Forever" - it's a proper beauty!

"This beautiful mix of jazz and pop, it feels super contemporary”  - Jamie Cullum (BBC Radio 2)

HER REVELATION | listen here |
